with our screensavers
If you're concerned about security when placing an
order on the internet, click here to see about our Online
Security.
Our screensaver engine is a true 32-bit engine for use
with Windows 95/98/2000/NT/XP. Because of this our screensavers do
not require the use of any DLLs, VBXs or other external
components as most other screensavers do. You can feel safe in
installing, or uninstalling, any of our screensavers knowing that
your Window's System directory has never been touched.
Our screensavers, even the free Lite versions,
are fully functional and include Windows 95/98/2000/NT/XP password
protection (if desired) and 36 special transition effects. Some
screensavers use Captions and some don't. If they do, the Lite
version will also have them. Options include the ability to speed up
or slow down the Transition Effects or to turn them off and to
set the time (in seconds) between images. If Captions are
used, they may also be turned off. Please note that because our
screensavers use photographic images, 256 colors is not enough. They
require at least 16-bit High Color, or preferably 24-bit True Color.
Most Windows systems are already set up with this. See
below if you have problems with this.
Many people either don't know that a screensaver's
settings can be changed, or how to do it. This can be done
immediately after installation, or later. To do it later Right Click
on any blank area of your Windows Desktop and then select Properties
from the pop up menu. Now select the Screen Saver tab from the Display
Properties dialog. If the screensaver you want isn't selected,
then select it and click on Settings. If you change the
settings don't forget to click on the Save Settings button.
Possible problems
Password protection:
If you use Password protection in your screensavers,
please note that our screensavers use the same password that you have
used in all your other Windows screensavers. This means that the
screensaver doesn't use it's own password, but the one you have
selected (or will select) on your own. IrwinWare cannot
help you if you forget your password. You will have to contact Microsoft.
Problems with color:
Because our screensavers uses photographic images, 256 colors is not
enough. They require at least 16 bit High Color, or preferably 24 bit
True Color. If you run our screensavers while your system is set for
256 colors it will run as a "text" screensaver with the
following message: "Your system is running in 256 Colors.
This screensaver requires at least 16 bit High Color or better.
Please make changes from the Display Properties Settings tab."
To change your color settings, Right click on any blank
area of your Windows Desktop, then select Properties from the
pop-up menu. Now select the Settings tab from the Display Properties
dialog. Under Colors select either 16 bit High Color or 24 bit
True color and then click Apply. You will probably notice
afterwards that the images in many of your other programs look better.
If you don't have a choice of anything higher than 256 colors then
you may need to install the video driver that came with your video
card, or the video card might be an old one that just isn't capable
of anything higher thatn 256 colors. Please do not contact
IrwinWare for any problems with your video drivers. We simply
cannot help you with video problems. There are literally hundreds of
different video standards for PCs. If the above didn't help you, you
will need to contact the manufacturer for their specific instructions.
